Known as the Queen City, Charlotte is the 21st largest city in the United States. It host the southeast’s largest trading center, as well as being the nations second largest financial centers with Bank of America and Wachovia being headquartered here. Several other Fortune 500 companies have also made their home in the Queen City.

Discover Entertainment

Finding entertainment in the Charlotte area can range from all different varieties for all different people. Carowinds, the cities amusement park, is filled with great rides, waterslides, roller coasters and fun for the whole family. Charlotte also has educational venues such as the Discovery Place, Imaginon, and an IMAX dome. The Blumenthal Performing Arts Center hosts several world class plays and musicals. During the summer time, the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater has live concerts with some of todays hottest music stars. As for the shoppers, Charlotte has everything you can ask for. From small and unique shops, to large shopping malls with the top of the line department stores, this city has something for everybody.

Sports Enthusiasm

Charlotte is the home to several professional sports, like the NFL’s Carolina Panthers (2003 NFC representative in the Super Bowl) and the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats. The Queen City also is the home of minor league teams such as the Charlotte Knights baseball team, the Charlotte Checkers hockey team and the Charlotte Eagles soccer team. The University of North Carolina at Charlotte also presents a great college atmosphere for sports when the Charlotte 49ers are playing. Charlotte is also known as the NASCAR capital, since it is the home of the Lowes Motor Speedway, majority of race car teams and soon the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Lowes Motor Speedway hosts three races every year from the popular All Star race to the Coca Cola 600, NASCAR’s longest race.

Charlotte is a city that continues to grow, but still holds it southern charms. Labeled the Gateway to the New South, this city offers many opportunities and lifestyles to its residents.
